Senior IT (SYS ENGINEER) Analyst
Overview: The Senior IT Information Technology Analyst will provide comprehensive support to the FAA’s Infrastructure & Operations (I&O) service by delivering a wide range of IT management, administrative, and technical solutions. The role supports the Enterprise Operations Center (EOC) mission, ensuring automated monitoring, service performance, reliability, and optimization of infrastructure in FAA facilities and applications. This includes providing expertise in storage systems, server administration, network engineering, user support, cloud engineering, and related IT systems functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Information Technology Services: Provide IT services in facilities planning, operations, and support, ensuring systems are efficiently operating and properly maintained.
- Storage Systems Analysis and Administration: Analyze, design, test, and manage storage systems to ensure they meet operational needs.
- Server System Analysis and Administration: Support the analysis, design, testing, and administration of server systems, ensuring they meet performance and availability standards.
- Network Engineering and Administration: Design, implement, and administer network systems, ensuring network services are secure, reliable, and optimized.
- User Support Planning and Administration: Oversee planning, operations, and administration of user support systems to ensure a seamless user experience.
- Database and Web Application Support: Provide support for databases, websites, and web application services to ensure high availability and performance.
- Production Readiness: Support pre-production and final production readiness activities, ensuring smooth transitions from development to production environments.
- Cloud Engineering: Apply expertise in cloud engineering, design, testing, and administration to support cloud-based systems and services.
- Forensic Analysis and Problem Resolution: Conduct forensic analysis and solve complex issues related to infrastructure and services, ensuring quick restoration of service during interruptions.
- EOC Support: Utilize enterprise tools to monitor and trend application and network performance and availability, facilitating proactive issue resolution and root cause analysis.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Systems, Management Information Systems, IT Management, or other IT-related degree (engineering, math, and science-related degrees are acceptable substitutes).
- Experience:
- Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in information technology, including:
- Storage systems administration and design
- Server system administration and design
- Network engineering and administration
- User support systems planning and administration
- Database and web application support
- Cloud engineering and administration
- Experience with EOC operations, monitoring, and performance optimization
- Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in information technology, including:
- Expertise in IT infrastructure and services including server systems, storage systems, and network engineering.
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, architecture, and administration.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct forensic analysis and resolve complex technical issues.
- Proficiency in enterprise tools for monitoring, alerting, and performance trending.
- Solid understanding of IT system operations and performance optimization.
- Strong communication skills, capable of coordinating with multiple teams to ensure service restoration.
- Experience with pre-production and final production readiness activities.
- Ability to proactively identify potential issues and take preventative action.
- Strong understanding of databases, websites, and web applications, with the ability to support and optimize these services.
- Fast-paced, technical environment within the FAA’s Infrastructure & Operations service.
- The role will involve providing critical support in the EOC to ensure systems and infrastructure are continuously monitored and optimized.
