Overview: The Senior IT Information Technology Analyst will play a key role in supporting the FAA’s Infrastructure & Operations (I&O) Network Management branch. This position is responsible for providing IT management, administrative, and technical solutions to ensure the successful operation of FAA’s network systems and services, including LANs, WANs, wireless infrastructure, and integrations with FAA Cloud Services (FCS). The Analyst will be instrumental in administering, configuring, and managing the FAA's network infrastructure, ensuring the availability, security, and optimization of network services.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Information Technology Services: Provide expert IT services in facilities planning, operations, and support, ensuring optimal system performance and functionality across the organization.
  • Storage Systems Analysis and Administration: Analyze, design, test, and administer storage systems to meet operational requirements and enhance data availability and security.
  • Server System Analysis and Administration: Oversee server system design, testing, and administration to ensure the efficient and secure operation of the server infrastructure.
  • Network Engineering and Administration: Design, configure, and manage network systems, ensuring that network services (LAN, WAN, wireless) are secure, reliable, and optimized.
  • User Support Planning and Administration: Plan and administer user support systems, ensuring smooth operations and addressing issues promptly.
  • Database and Web Application Support: Provide support and administration for databases and web application services, ensuring seamless integration and high availability.
  • Production Readiness: Assist in supporting pre-production and final production readiness activities, ensuring systems are tested and fully operational before going live.
  • Cloud Engineering: Provide expertise in cloud engineering, design, testing, and administration, particularly in integrating cloud services with on-premise infrastructure.
  • Network Systems Protection: Administer, configure, and troubleshoot network infrastructure, including switches, routers, and wireless controllers/access points, to ensure network security and functionality.
  • Standards and Documentation: Set and document standards for network and data center technologies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and industry best practices.
  • Guidance to Facilities: Provide network and data center guidance to facilities that are new, moving, or renovating, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
  • Project Management Support: Forecast project budgets, set priorities, analyze risks and constraints, and manage resources to achieve project goals in network design, modernization, and configuration.

Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Systems, Management Information Systems, IT Management, or other IT-related degrees (engineering, math, and science-related degrees are acceptable substitutes).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in IT, including:
      • Network engineering and administration (LAN, WAN, wireless infrastructure)
      • Storage systems and server system design and administration
      • User support systems management and administration
      • Cloud engineering, design, and administration
      • Project management support in network infrastructure, budget forecasting, and resource management

Skills and Competencies:
  • Expertise in network infrastructure management, including LANs, WANs, and wireless technologies.
  • Proficiency in cloud services integration and cloud infrastructure management.
  • Strong knowledge of network security, including troubleshooting and monitoring network devices like routers, switches, and access points.
  • Advanced skills in system administration for storage and server environments.
  • Familiarity with databases and web application services.
  • Experience with pre-production and production readiness activities.
  • Ability to design, implement, and administer complex IT infrastructure solutions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams and facilities.
  • Project management experience with a focus on resource management, budgeting, and risk assessment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, ensuring service availability and minimizing downtime.

Work Environment:
  • Collaborative, technical environment within the FAA’s Infrastructure & Operations service.
  • The role requires attention to detail and the ability to work across multiple teams to ensure high availability of IT systems and network infrastructure.
