Job Description:
The contract supports the Air Force in delivering cloud-based, software-intensive capabilities that enhance warfighter effectiveness. The scope encompasses software development, operations and support, system and security engineering, agile coaching, DevSecOps enablement, configuration and release management, system integration, cyber compliance, and cloud platform management. Services are delivered using agile software development principles and a continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) approach within a government-authorized cloud environment.
Responsibilities:
- The Software Engineer is responsible for developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining secure and scalable software solutions that support Air Force warfighter operations. Working within Agile and DevSecOps environments, the Software Engineer contributes to the full software development lifecycle and collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality code delivery aligned with mission needs and cybersecurity standards.
- Design, develop, and maintain application components, microservices, and APIs using modern programming languages and frameworks.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Write automated tests and support integration into CI/CD pipelines.
- Debug software issues and support troubleshooting across multiple environments (Dev, Test, Staging, Prod).
- Ensure code quality and secure coding practices in compliance with DoD standards (e.g., STIGs, RMF, NIST 800-53).
- Collaborate with Product Owners, UX designers, platform engineers, and cybersecurity staff to deliver end-to-end software solutions.
- Maintain technical documentation and support continuous improvement of development practices.
Required Experience:
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript, Go, C#).
- Experience in Agile software development, including use of tools like Git, Jira, and Confluence.
- Familiarity with containerization (e.g., Docker), CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI), and DevSecOps practices.
- Understanding of cloud-native development (e.g., AWS, Azure) and secure software principles.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- AWS Certified Developer – Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate
- Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
- Security+, CISSP, or other DoD 8570-compliant certifications
