Job Description:
Xenith Solutions seeks Quality Assurance (QA)/Quality Control (QC) Tower Climbers to support a U.S. Customs and Border Protection operations. Join our team of collaborative self-starters focused on delivering practical and efficient solutions to help our client keep U.S. borders safe and facilitate trade and travel. 
 
As part of our high-performing team, The QA/QC Tower Climber is responsible for supporting deployment, sustainment, quality assurance, quality control, and inspection activities for communications, surveillance, and related tower-based systems. The contractor will perform on-site field observations, tower inspections, documentation reviews, quality assessments, and compliance verification to ensure that all deployment and sustainment activities are conducted in accordance with established requirements, industry standards, safety regulations, and programmatic objectives. Frequent travel is required. This position cannot be performed remotely, with a requirement to be on site at a CBP facility in Tucson, AZ.
 
Responsibilities:
This position requires a tower climb-certified professional at the competent level or above who can serve as the on-site subject matter expert, independently support and lead deployment-related activities, inspect work performed by outside vendors, and validate compliance at CBP-owned or leased tower locations.
 
Deployment and Sustainment Oversight
  • Oversee and manage deployment and sustainment activities to ensure all work is performed in accordance with established requirements, industry standards, and program objectives.
  • Support planning, execution, monitoring, and quality control of system deployments, civil buildouts, and sustainment operations.
  • Conduct detailed field observations of systems undergoing deployment or sustainment.
  • Monitor deployment progress, identify discrepancies or issues, and verify compliance with applicable technical, safety, and operational requirements.
 
Quality Assurance and Quality Control
  • Ensure adherence to quality assurance protocols, safety regulations, and technical specifications.
  • Conduct physical configuration audits, support system acceptance inspections, and oversee functional testing requirements.
  • Identify issues and risks within deployment plans and recommend corrective actions or mitigation strategies.
  • Support timely delivery of required objectives by assisting with schedule and resource management.
 
Tower Climbing and Tower Inspection
  • Perform tower inspections in accordance with applicable Tower Industry Association standards, including TIA-222-G.
  • Climb towers at existing site heights to inspect, validate, and document work performed by vendors on or near CBP-owned or leased towers.
  • Serve as the on-site subject matter expert for tower climbing, tower inspection, and related deployment activities.
  • Independently lead or support field deployment activities requiring tower access and inspection expertise.
  • Abide by all applicable CBP policies, site-specific requirements, Appendix A requirements, and professional conduct standards at all CBP tower locations.
 
Technical Review and Documentation
  • Review deployment and sustainment documentation and provide recommendations as needed.
  • Review Joint Acceptance Inventories (JAI) As-Built drawings, system diagrams, statements of work, technical documentation, operational documentation, deployment checklists, and related materials.
  • Ensure documentation aligns with applicable standards, program objectives, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain comprehensive, accurate, and up-to-date deployment and sustainment documentation.
  • Upload, organize, and manage deployment-related materials, including deployment checklists, inventories of decommissioned equipment, and deployment observation reports.
 
Reporting
  • Prepare comprehensive daily reports documenting field observations, deployment activities, issues, risks, and actions taken.
  • Document deployment notes and related information in alignment with discussions held with the team lead and team members.
  • Prepare deployment, sustainment, and other required observation reports promptly.
  • Include detailed photographic documentation of identified discrepancies.
  • Provide concise descriptions of each issue and cite applicable standards used during the deployment or inspection process.
 
Coordination and Communication
  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration with team members, vendors, government stakeholders, and program leadership.
  • Coordinate with team leads and field personnel to ensure observations, issues, risks, and recommendations are accurately captured and communicated.
  • Support mission requirements by assisting with schedule management and resource allocation.
 
Qualifications:
  • Tower climb certification at the competent level or above.
  • Demonstrated experience performing tower climbing and tower inspection activities.
  • Ability to complete tower inspections in accordance with TIA-222-G standards.
  • Experience sufficient to serve as the on-site subject matter expert for tower climbing and deployment activities.
  • Ability to independently lead deployment-related field activities.
  • Experience inspecting and validating telecommunications, surveillance, or related tower-based systems.
  • Strong knowledge of deployment and sustainment operations.
  • Ability to conduct physical configuration audits, support system acceptance inspections, and oversee functional testing.
  • Ability to review and assess technical and operational documentation, including:
  • As-Built drawings
  • System diagrams
  • Statements of work
  • Deployment checklists
  • Sustainment documentation
  • Technical specifications
  • Observation reports
  • Ability to prepare detailed reports, including photographic documentation and standards-based discrepancy descriptions.
  • Ability to travel to designated deployment and sustainment locations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, team members, and government stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage schedules, identify risks, and support timely completion of mission objectives.
  • The candidate must be able to identify, interpret, and apply applicable standards and regulatory frameworks, including but not limited to:

  • FAA-STD 19F, as applicable to legacy or referenced requirements
  • NFPA 780

  • OSHA guidelines
  • Applicable quality assurance and safety protocols
  • Applicable CBP policies and site-specific requirements
  • Preferred experience:
  • Experience supporting federal, DHS, or CBP deployment and sustainment programs.
  • Experience with telecommunications systems, video surveillance systems, radio communications, or related infrastructure.
  • Experience working with outside vendors and validating contractor-performed work.
  • Experience producing field observation reports, discrepancy reports, and deployment acceptance documentation.
  • Experience supporting civil buildouts, system deployments, and sustainment operations at remote or operationally sensitive sites.
