Senior IT (AD/AZURE Cloud) Analyst
Overview: The Senior IT Information Technology Analyst will provide comprehensive support to the FAA’s Infrastructure & Operations (I&O) Service, focusing on IT management, administrative, and technical solutions. This role is primarily dedicated to supporting the I&O Authentication Services branch, ensuring the effective administration and monitoring of the Mission Support on-premises and Azure cloud authentication systems and services. The Analyst will handle a wide range of IT functions, including storage systems, server administration, network engineering, user support, cloud engineering, and domain management within the Microsoft Active Directory and Azure environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Information Technology Services: Provide IT services in facilities planning, operations, and support to ensure optimal IT infrastructure performance.
- Storage Systems Analysis and Administration: Analyze, design, test, and manage storage systems to meet organizational and operational requirements.
- Server System Analysis and Administration: Oversee server system design, testing, and administration to ensure high availability and security.
- Network Engineering and Administration: Design, implement, and administer network systems, ensuring secure, reliable, and optimized performance.
- User Support Planning and Administration: Plan and administer user support services, ensuring smooth operations and quick issue resolution.
- Database and Web Application Support: Provide administration and support for databases and web application services, ensuring they meet performance standards.
- Production Readiness: Support pre-production and final production readiness activities, ensuring systems are fully tested and operational.
- Cloud Engineering: Apply expertise in cloud technologies for design, testing, and administration of cloud-based services, particularly within Azure.
- Active Directory and Domain Management: Administer Microsoft Windows Active Directory, including managing domains, trusts, and policies to support resource access.
- Azure Cloud Tenant Administration: Oversee the administration of the Azure Cloud Tenant environment, ensuring proper configuration, user authentication, and system functionality.
- Authentication Management: Manage, maintain, and monitor infrastructure supporting user authentication, including smart card authentication, PIV (Personal Identity Verification), and Common Access Card (CAC) systems.
- Scripting and Reporting: Create and modify scripts for managing and reporting on domain activities and user authentication.
- Troubleshooting: Support and troubleshoot issues related to user smart card authentication and other authentication processes.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Systems, Management Information Systems, IT Management, or other IT-related degrees (engineering, math, and science-related degrees are acceptable substitutes).
- Experience:
- Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in IT, including:
- Storage systems analysis, design, and administration
- Server system design, testing, and administration
- Network engineering and administration
- User support services administration
- Cloud engineering (specifically Azure)
- Active Directory and domain management
- Managing authentication systems and services
- Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in IT, including:
- Expertise in IT infrastructure, including server systems, storage systems, and network engineering.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows Active Directory and associated tools (e.g., Active Directory Users and Computers, Domains and Trusts).
- Strong experience with Azure Cloud services, including tenant administration and cloud infrastructure management.
- Proficient in managing user authentication systems, including smart card authentication, PIV, and CAC systems.
- Experience in scripting for domain management and reporting.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex IT issues.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with different teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, supporting mission-critical systems with high reliability.
- Collaborative, technical environment within the FAA’s Infrastructure & Operations service.
- The role will involve working in a high-stakes, mission-critical environment with a focus on supporting secure access to IT systems and services.
